After agonizing for 5 days trying to resolve a problem where my volume control for the sound mixer would not stay where I set it was do to fact I plugged in a non PnP video monitor into a Compaq Presario 5220. I had to spend $39.95 to get Compaq higher level tech support just to have them tell me I had a non PnP monitor which inhibited the sound system on the Presario mother board( go figure!!!). I had to try several monitors, I had laying around, to find one that made the sound system work. The only one was PnP Gateway monitor I had which was used by the newer family computer. So I need to get a newer PnP monitor! What a crock...
