Ken, I did three things when my vanity call arrived:
1. Set a group with the previous callsign - so the group name said "as WB8BGO". This is very helpful when entering a QSO-in-progress. You can look in the "same call" window and you can see whether you worked him/her before, and under which callsign. During the QSO, you can immediately say (or type or send... ;-) "we've worked 3 times before, twice under my previous callsign and once under my new vanity call..." or whatever. Don't rely upon your memory or math skills to figure that out during a QSO... gets worse as time passes ;-) 2. Modified my QSL label printing comments to say "previously WB8BGO" - so when I print a card for any QSO, it has this little comment on it. _IF_ this card involves multiple QSOs, split between the new and old callsigns, I will use a highlighter, and highlight the "previous callsign" comments, then highlight the QSO that involved the previous call. 3. This might sound a little corny, but I entered a new QSO with myself and my new vanity callsign. I created a log entry on the date I started using my new callsign. Whenever I'm trying to remember when I switched callsigns, I press <F8>, enter my callsign, and see the date of the "QSO". (ummm... to avoid any award confusion, you can press <F5> a few times and enter this QSO as an "invalid" contact in the "ValidDX" field.] -larry K8UT ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ken Brookner" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, September 16, 2002 12:52 AM Subject: [Dx4win] changing my call sign: dx4win questions... > I'm making the switch to a vanity call and I've been thinking about how > to handle this with my log.
