The short answer is you have to be administrator... Under XP you can't even set the clock if you are not administrator (by default)
I haven't tried to puzzle out the minimum set of "rights" needed to run DX4Win in a secure environment... But sounds like an interesting project for a rainy day... If someone hasn't done it already... -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of John Bednar Sent: August 10, 2003 8:32 AM To: DX4WIN Reflector Subject: [Dx4win] Version 6.02 - Win XP Pro - program won't start I tried to run version 6.02 today and program would not start. Instead, the following error was displayed: "Port driver not found check appendix: Files for the correct driver". I checked Appendix D and could not find the error or any solutions in this section. After some experimenting, I did learn much later that the program starts correctly if my user level is set to "administrator" instead of "limited" user. I did try changing my user level, re-installed 6.02 using my account, but DX4Win still won't start with a limited account setting. I don't remember seeing this problem mentioned earlier so I suspect that it might have something to do with my configuration. DX4Win is installed in the default directory. Does anyone have suggestions other than being an administrator to run the program?
