It's actually a directory called %systemroot% which resolves to wherever you installed your operating system...
If it still doesn't work... It's hard to say... The LPT drivers under XP/NT systems are quite hardware specific... They will generally work with LPT ports on the motherboard... But third party add-on cards may not work. If you have more than one LPT port... The port on the MB... Usually LPT1... should work... I had that problem... My second LPT port is a Lava card... It wouldn't work.... So I moved my printer to LPT2 and used LPT1 for the radio... This worked fine. Ultimately, you may want to consider moving CW/PTT to a COM port as the API for these cards is standard under NT/XP... This is what I did. If you must use more than one LPT card for control... Check on the reflector for anyone who is using 3rd party cards successfully... I think some 3rd party LPT ports do work. -----Original Message----- From: Ted Huddle [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: August 21, 2003 23:28 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 'Tom Branch' Subject: RE: [Dx4win] LPT1 with XP I did not have a WinNT directory but rather`Windows. Put file in system32\drivers subdirectory with no luck. Already had tye file there anyway. Any other suggestions? The driver for XP is different for XP/NT than Win 98... You do NOT need Userport... Tom is probably thinking of Writelog... Which does need Userport... Which is not to say that Userport won't work... It's just not necessary. Also, ignore suggestions to re-install... That's also unnecessary... Though it also works... >From the DX4Win documentation (the last place anybody thinks of looking ;-): for Win/95/98: Windows\System\Vichw11.vxd for Win/NT/2000/XP: WinNT\System32\Divers\Vichw11.sys I've attached the driver to save you the trouble of extracting it... Just put it in the indicated directory... You should probably delete vichw11.vxd if it's on your system... 73... -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tom Branch Sent: August 21, 2003 18:02 To: Ted Huddle; dX4WIN Subject: Re: [Dx4win] LPT1 with XP Ted, XP cannot address the port directly.
