Unfortunately, if the Internet is down, so would many of the packet nodes... At least around here. Our connection to the cluster backbone used to be via a chain of RF nodes in NNY... And it would be down for months at a time during the summer months when lightening would take out a node or two in the Adirondacks... It hasn't been worth maintaining for years now...
