Thanks, Guy. The most obvious change in the country file was to match the primary prefix of each entity to the ARRL DXCC Awards Credit Listing. This is the listing that the ARRL sends back to you when you send in a DXCC application or endorsement. Having these use the same set of prefixes makes cross-checking very simple. Thus, K became W, 4K2 became R1FJ, etc. The majority of the work was in resolving "ambiguous" callsigns to the actual country they were used from. I.e. FO used from Tahiti, Marquesas, Australs or Clipperton. Many new ones were added, and many others were modified or removed to make other people's country totals agree. Some prefixes were mapped incorrectly, i.e. EG9 is Ceuta & Melilla, but EG92 is only Spain. As a result, some people may have gained or a lost an entity or two. This just means that the the entity they *thought* the callsign counted for was not the actual entity where the operation took place. In all such cases, go back to the QSL card. If there is a mistake, I'm happy to correct it. There were other corrections like changing some entity names (i.e. UNATET is now Timor-Leste). Some prefix-to-zone mappings were incorrect. Some entities are no longer serviced by the ARRL Outgoing QSL bureau. All these changes are described in the Revision History on my web site. Again, if there are mistakes, I'm happy to correct them. But I'm confident that the country database is more complete and correct than it has ever been, not less so. 73 - Jim AD1C ===== Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.com PGP Fingerprint: D8E2 3D78 339F A7F1 8C13 1193 B5D1 4FB6 79D1 70DC From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue May 11 17:21:01 2004 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Jim Reisert AD1C) Date: Tue May 11 17:22:12 2004 Subject: [Dx4win] Upgrading to 6.03: import your preferences! Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> When you upgrade to a new version of DX4WIN (in a new directory), you MUST import your preferences from the old version. One "classic" problem that seems to bite people are the "Worked Cutoff" and "Mailed Cutoff" dates in teh preferences. I think a new install defaults these to 10000. To transfer your preferences, start up your old version of DX4WIN. File -> Preferences -> Write INI file. Give the file a name, and make a note of where it is located. Then start the new version of DX4WIN, File -> Preferences -> Merge INI file. You'll see some screen activity, then all your preferences should be transferred. If you have an ICOM radio, check the radio settings to make sure that the baud rate is correct. It's usually not correct for me. 73 - Jim AD1C ===== Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.com PGP Fingerprint: D8E2 3D78 339F A7F1 8C13 1193 B5D1 4FB6 79D1 70DC From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue May 11 17:39:40 2004 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Jim Reisert AD1C) Date: Tue May 11 17:40:55 2004 Subject: [Dx4win] Upgrading to 6.03: import your preferences! In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> After importing your preferences, check your band preferences carefully. Because of the addition of 5 MHz (60 meters), some of the band preferences may not match your old version. Check both the station band flags as well as the award band flags in the preferences. 73 - Jim AD1C ===== Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.com PGP Fingerprint: D8E2 3D78 339F A7F1 8C13 1193 B5D1 4FB6 79D1 70DC From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue May 11 17:45:37 2004 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (M.McCarty (K6MMC)) Date: Tue May 11 17:46:52 2004 Subject: [Dx4win] Upgrade question Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Is there an easy way to move window placement from 6.02 to 6.03?
