I have been battling this problem also. I have 29 groups and I found that the default group was changing randomly. I assumed it was either a virus problem or a problem of permissions and ownership of the logfile (using WIN2K) as I have been moving my log between different computers and have reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled DX4WIN several times.
