I found it easier to save the data out as a fixed record length instead of a
comma delimited file.  This way the import feature for DX4WIN can easily
define the record, mapping each of the columns to the appropriate data
element.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Excel can import DBase format data.
You could then export in .csv format or ASCII fixed column format and then
import directly into Dx4win.
