Seems more likely to be a Virus, Trojan, whatever, than a problem with 
DX4WIN

I caught 2 this week which tried to access the internet. Get the free 
versions of AVG or Avast anti virus software & also run the free 
programs, Zone Alarm & WinPatrol. These make sure that no programs can 
start up automatically & access the web unless you want them to.

If you search the internet you will find many instances of people 
getting their computers slowed down by viruses.
