Hi all, Back to an earlier posting. Some time ago this topic was discussed and resolved. Unfortunately due to a hard disk problem I cannot retrieve the necessary information.
I need 2 LPT ports, on a windows XP machine, one for ARS (rotator control) and one for band decoder (ON4OAI). ARS goes to LPT1 and works no problem, XP assigns this a regular address which ARS can read. Using a PCI card for the second LPT port, XP assigns this some 4 digit address and in my computer calls it LPT3. So via DX4WIN, preferences, control, I select ON4AOI as band decoder and LPT3. It didn't work before, until someone told me about editing the "portmap" file in the save directory (this is a notepad file). One can then allocate digits to represent the LPT ports. I am using non tech language here but some one directed the reflector towards a web site that would calculate the necessary entries required for activating this second LPT port. For example on my previous installation the portmap file looked like this : [LPTMAP] LPT1=888 LPT2=5288 LPT3= Does anyone remember this?? What I am trying to achieve is to use the band decoder to select the appropriate aerial for the given band in DX4WIN's QSO window. Appreciate any comments........... 73's de Tony G8DQZ
