You need one more step in the process, and it's a little tricky so make sure you have your primary log file backed up before proceeding.
1. Open your primary log (eg. "K8UT") 2. Do a <F>ile, <S>ave as... to a new name (eg. "K8UT 2002") 3. Set a filter for all QSOs _before_ 2002, and then QSO -> Multiple QSO Operations -> Delete QSOs 4. Set a filter for all QSOs _after_ 2002, and then QSO -> Multiple QSO Operations -> Delete QSOs 5. You now have a file, "K8UT 2002" with only 2002 QSOs in it. 6. Do another <F>ile, <S>ave as... to the diskette drive, or just copy the file over. repeat as necessary for each calendar year... A suggestion: if your entire log is too big to fit on one diskette (as a backup -- my log has 20,000 QSOs and is 2 MB in size - too large for a diskette) you can ZIP it (mine gets down to 600kb) or use a USB pen drive (256 MB USB drives are about $10). I use the free SYNCBACK program to auto-magically copy my ham files to a pen drive every night. -larry K8UT ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Solly" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <dx4win@mailman.qth.net> Sent: Wednesday, April 26, 2006 21:25 Subject: [Dx4win] log splitting > Help!! Thanks Jim and all others who helped. Joe/W6RLL DX4Win 7.01. I am making entries for the WAE CW award. The first two on the list are 1A0 and 3A. Those two were found in the Custom Award Value drop down list in the QSO Window and were entered and recorded. Next is 4J1. I entered 4J1FS and found that in the Custom Award drop down list in the QSO Window there is no WAE CW award to be selected. That means that I am unable to proceed to the Value List to enter MVI. Thanks for any help. Joe/W6RLL _______________________________________________ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
