Thanks for the quick response Jim, I will try changing the preference as
you suggested. It's still a manual process, but it sounds easier than

One of the things I have done is insert a bogus QSO, with my own call, in
the log every time there is a significant change. After entering the QSO I
use the "Notes for this QSO" field to record the event. (oh, and I also mark
it as an invalid QSO)
So, if I set the filter/search for callsign = "K8UT", DX4WIN displays QSOs
with notes like "received new vanity callsign, new tower erected this date,
bought new PW-1 amplifier, installed new Gem quad, added multiband vertical,
replaced rig with Icom 756 Pro II..."
Without a paper log this is my solution for recording station changes.

dx4win has a nice feature you can use for this, even i like your trick
You can organize your log to groups. See the help. It is really good.
