In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> This is a good point to keep in mind. Most people are running only one log at a time so may never close one log and open another. In my case I run a USA log and a portable DU log where I go for some contesting etc, when the XYL is visiting her family there. In my case I am used to closing one log to open another, especially when I get my BURO cards and someone is asking for a QSL from my /DU ops. I do not want to combine or merge the logs because I have DXCC, etc, from both operations and want to keep my REPORTS and LOGBOOK files separate. In using DX4WIN in this manner I am VERY happy that it has the .~XL log save feature that saves your log file as it was BEFORE your last save. I once went to my DU log, printed out some QSL labels for some BURO cards I had received, then accidentally manually saved the changes under the name of my USA log. As soon as I realized what I had done I panicked as I realized my USA log must now be completely gone as I could not have two separate logs under the same name. Then I remembered the .~XL last saved log function and was able to go back to my previous save and find the log as it should be before the last save. I just re-entered the QSL DATE SENT info and saved it again under the correct name. If you go MAIN MENU> SAVE AS (as opposed to just SAVE) you will open your save file so you can see all the names of the logs you have on file. Most users will just have YOURCALL.DXL and Paul's SAMPLELOG.DXL. But if you are like me and are using more than one log you will see all the logs you have saved. But this window does not show the .~XL saved log. You must use Windows Explorer to open the same SAVE file to see the .~XL files. Why is that, Paul? But I am very very happy that you made that a feature. 73 Paul Pescitelli wrote: > that did it !!! not sure why the log ever got closed. > > thanks! > > On 5/7/06, Paul van der Eijk <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > >> Paul, >> >> Do you have a log open?? >> >> --Paul >> >> At 03:10 PM 5/7/2006, Paul Pescitelli wrote: >> >Gents, >> > >> >There is no way to select WINDOWS as that option is on the main QSO >> >window.
