Hi Stan, What you have is a XP problem.
For the record I've 3 LPT's and 8 com ports Lpt1 original on board Lpt2 and LPT3 are added with VSCOM pci board Com1 original on board COM2 USB->rs232 COM3-COM4-COM5-COM6 are added with VSCOM pci board COM7 USB->rs232 COM8 USB->rs232 I couldn't assign com6 anymore because it was in use by something else? And there was nothing forwarded to that port. I couldn't swap the hardware on Com2 and Com7 even when I pulled them out and reinstalled in different USB ports they remain com2 and com7 The solution I found was to disable COM2 - COM7 and COM6 in the device manager and completely restart the PC without disconnecting anything. When restarted I enabled all comports again and all works ok. Com6 is free and when I swap the hardware on com2 and com7 it's recognized again. Something in the registry causes this but since it works now this way I don't search after it there. 73 Guy ON4AOI BAND DECODER and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/banddecoder.htm DX4WIN soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dx4win.htm DX4WIN, WRITELOG, WF1B & RITTY CW & RTTY interfaces at http://www.on4aoi.be/keyer.htm ARSWIN link and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/web7.htm DXTELNET soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dxt.htm -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Stan Staten Sent: Friday, May 19, 2006 11:40 PM To: DX4WIN Subject: [Dx4win] Error connecting to radio When switching to radio 2 I get the following error: "ie_BadId-Specified comport doesn't exist" This is curious because it sort of works in that the log shows the band radio 2 is on, but if I click on a spot I do get an error that the port is in use by something else. When I bring up V7.01 it works just fine. Setup: Win XP Pro Port in question COM3 via a USB->Serial converter DX4WIN 7.02 Build 14 Ram 512MB Processor AMD Athlon 3000 Radio 1 FT-1000MP on COM2 Radio 2 FT-897 on COM3 The port shows in the Device Manager and remains as COM3 when I plug it into a different USB port (it drops of the Device Manager list when I unplug it and then reappears when I plug it into a different USB port). Suggestions please. 73 Stan, N3HS _______________________________________________ Dx4win mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
