Hi Dave,
If there are already 8 comports on your computer then I suggest
You connect your rig to one below 8.
But mu guess is that your computer gave this number randomly
Go in your Windows/SYSTEM/hardware/ports and change the comport NR to a
number Below 8 that is not used.

I'm using DX4WIN (latest version) to control an IC-7000. The rig is 
connected to the computer via a comm port-> USB adapter. The computer's 
Device Manager says the adapter is working properly as COM9. The 
problem is that DX4WIN only goes up to Comm8. Any ideas would be 
appreciated! Thanks.
