Hi Folks,

I have decided to delay releasing DX4WIN.CTY #34 until late this week or early
next week. This will allow me to process the October, 2006 spots file, as well
as lookup QSL managers from this past weekend's CQWW Phone contest. The
current release notes can be found here:

  http://www.country-files.com/dx4win/history.htm#34

I should have the callsign mappings updated with some new data (mostly
ZK1/North) in the next day or two. I won't start processing October spots
until Wednesday, 1 November at the earliest.

For those of you who have sent me callsign exceptions, thanks! See:

  http://mailman.qth.net/pipermail/dx4win/2006-October/008929.html

It's not too late to get that information to me.

I tried one once for a printer with a parallel interface, but it never seemed
to work right.

- if your printer doesn't have a USB port, throw it out and get one that does.

- if you are using the LPT port for CW, switch to COM port CW keying. The
USB-to-COM devices seem to be be more reliable. Search the RTTY reflector
archives ( http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/rtty/ ), I think
there's a Belkin device that people seem to like (and it does FSK keying as one
would expect).

Thanks for your comments Jim, I am using 2 LPT ports, one for Guy's band
decoder and the other for ARSWIN. Both only work under LPT's. I cannot rely
on the signal being read directly from my Pro II to the band decoder, the
voltages aint right, so it has to be parallel.

Looks like I'll have to use up one (of only 2!) PCI expansion slots with a
double LPT ports.

Regards Tony
