I have been using a PK232 TNC with DX4WIN for RTTY for years. A year or two ago, I also installed MMTTY, but only for listening, as I wanted to use FSK rather than AFSK, and the PK232 was using the FSK jack on the FT1000MP. Recently, I built a small box to OR the FSK outputs of the PK232 and MMTTY at the radio's RTTY jack. I presumed that I could assign another serial port on the computer to provide the MMTTY FSK signal.
Now, to my dismay, it appears that DX4WIN assigns only one COM port for RTTY, which both the TNC and MMTTY think is its own. That is, I cannot tell MMTTY to use a port other than that specified in Preferences/RTTY. Is this the case? Did I waste my time building the combiner, and must I now use AFSK with MMTTY to be able to send RTTY from either the TNC or MMTTY?
