Never heard of such a thing.

I used the FT-847 with DX4WIN for a while but built the RS232 cable myself.
It only uses 3 wires, pins 2, 3, and 5. Use two 9 pin FEMALE RS232
connectors (radio shack) and a 4 foot length of 2 conductor shielded cable
that I removed from an old pair of cheap stereo headsets.. Connect like
this;

    Radio                Computer
       2 -------------->   3
       3 -------------->   2
       5 -------------->   5 (Ground Shield)

I setup the DX4WIN rig file on com 1, 4800 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, and
1 stop bit.
I do remember seeing the information about Prod. run 5 and "think" it refers
to the radio production run versus eprom software. I paid no attention to
it.
Naturally, the FT-2000 I now own uses a different RS232 pin configuration.
Yep, nothing stays the same, HI.
Hope this helps a bit.
Best 73's and DX,
Mack N4SS
