It only uses 3 wires, pins 2, 3, and 5. Use two 9 pin FEMALE RS232 connectors (radio shack) and a 4 foot length of 2 conductor shielded cable that I removed from an old pair of cheap stereo headsets.. Connect like this; Radio Computer 2 --------------> 3 3 --------------> 2 5 --------------> 5 (Ground Shield) I setup the DX4WIN rig file on com 1, 4800 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit. I do remember seeing the information about Prod. run 5 and "think" it refers to the radio production run versus eprom software. I paid no attention to it. Naturally, the FT-2000 I now own uses a different RS232 pin configuration. Yep, nothing stays the same, HI. Hope this helps a bit.
