Thanks to Jim (AD1C) and Hamad (9K2HN), the problem is resolved. Yes, it was the settings in the Preferences under Packet. The "Warning messages" field was set default as "New Country" and the box marked "Alert unconfirmed count" was also checked as default. Thanks guys and Steve also for taking the time to help me out!
