I have released a new version of the DX4WIN.TCP DX cluster database:

    http://dx4win.ad1c.us/cluster.htm

This file lists over 400 nodes, and is derived from the
http://www.dxcluster.info web site which I recently took over from Chuck K6PBT.

If there are any additions or corrections, please let me know.

 Paul,

I have tried something else with more success. Before when I tried to run
DX4WIN I was running as an administrator. I was running from my usual
account that has administrator privileges. I now find that when logged in
to this same account and if I right click on the DX4WIN icon on my desktop
and click on "Run as administrator" the program runs. So far I can't get it
to talk to my radio but the database portion seems to work OK. I'm using a
regular serial port that works fine with Ham Radio Deluxe. I'll keep
trying.

Subject: [Dx4win] My Vista experience

Hi,

I installed Virtual PC 2007 (free download from MicroSoft)
and installed Vista Ultimate under the virtual machine.
(for the time being I have no plans to install Vista on any of
my machines)

When running as administrator, DX4WIN runs fine. I do not get any
error messages etc and the port driver is loaded. As a regular user,
the port driver cannot be loaded. Versions prior to 7.03 would exit
when this happens; I modified the code for version 7.03 to ignore
this error, with the result that access to the LPT port(s) is disabled.

I guess that the experiment worked, because my laptop is 32 bits. If
you run the 64 bits version of Vista, loading the device driver will not
work; even for the administrator.

Will keep you posted,

--Paul
