Here is another possibility. You can export your log to DX4WIN# format (where # is 4 or 6 depending on the version of DX4WIN you are running). This will create a plain-text .DXQ file. The format of the .DXQ file is very simple: QSO #1 QSO notes #1 QSO #2 QSO notes #2 etc. So the QSO notes are on every other line in the file (2nd, 4th, etc.). If you have a programmable text editor (like EMACS), you can create a macro or "program" to add the comment to every other line for the number of QSOs you want to change. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C/?, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.us From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Feb 15 15:10:14 2008 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Jim Reisert AD1C) Date: Fri Feb 15 15:15:13 2008 Subject: [Dx4win] Multiple QSOs change on QSO NOTES In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Guys, thanks for the answer. I just wish we were allowed more than 254 group numbers. At my present rate I will have all 254 numbers used by CQ WPX CW this year. When that happens I will have to look at other options to accomplish this or look at different software that will do what I want. Thanks Fred PY2XB What about using group numbers - assign a different group to each imported log? 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C/?, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.us _______________________________________________ Dx4win mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Feb 15 17:09:52 2008 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Jim Reisert AD1C) Date: Fri Feb 15 17:14:48 2008 Subject: [Dx4win] Multiple QSOs change on QSO NOTES - Group Numbers In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> --- AC0W <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Group numbers is a nice feature and I use it a lot. Paul could change this from a 1-byte field to a 2-byte field (giving 64K group numbers). However, it would result in a change to the the .DXL (logbook) file format, which would cause compatibility problems with older versions of the software. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C/?, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.us From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Feb 15 18:06:07 2008 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (John Balsillie) Date: Fri Feb 15 18:10:56 2008 Subject: [Dx4win] Multiple QSOs change on QSO NOTES - Group Numbers In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi Bill, I'm not sure how you allocate your group numbers. I started giving a number to every contest, IE CQ WPX CW,2005,2006,2007 ETC and could see I would fast run out of numbers. On a suggestion from a local user I now only have one number for each contest and use the same number each year. Its a simple matter to filter by year or mode as and when you require. This has reduced my groups considerably.
