I have implemented this feature in DX4Win and it works nicely with one
exception. It seems that the QRZ windows stack up on my PC (XP Pro) (I have
a second screen) and eventually, the system comes to an out of memory state
where the mouse pointer does not follow movements of the mouse.

Question is: How can I get the QRZ window to close after a lookup so that
the windows do not stack up? Any experience out there with this one please.

I've been doing the same as John, using a new group number for each
contest. I wasn't thinking of running out as up to this thread I
thought I could go to 999. One nice thing is that your labels will
print with the contest name this way as Jim said.

Hi All;

I maybe missed the point, but I really wonder what you guys are doing to
even think about running out of Group numbers.

I don't understand anyone's need really to group by year or by contest;
since you would still need to do a search operation (F8) to filter by
Group. You might as well do a search by date in that case. I use
Groups in my main log to differentiate from G3NKC and G3NKC/P, and I
think I set up GQ3NKC - so call sign variants.

For my GD contest operations, I currently hold separate logs for GD0EMG,
MD6V, and MD4K; even though I have been thinking about the merits of
merging those logs (might be nice to see a complete DXCC achievement,
for instance); but I often think these would be outweighed by the
overhead when doing the QSLling chores (when someone requests a card, I
normally QSL all QSO's with our particular contest call. I might end up
selecting QSL's for all call's; meaning I have 3 labels that would have
to go on 3 cards). ON balance I think those logs will stay separate.

Hi Bill,
I'm not sure how you allocate your group numbers. I started giving a
number to every contest, IE CQ WPX CW,2005,2006,2007 ETC and could see I
would fast run out of numbers. On a suggestion from a local user I now
only have one number for each contest and use the same number each year.
Its a simple matter to filter by year or mode as and when you require.
This has reduced my groups considerably.

Group numbers is a nice feature and I use it a lot. I just wish we were
allowed more than 254 group numbers. At my present rate I will have all
254 numbers used by CQ WPX CW this year. When that happens I will have
to look at other options to accomplish this or look at different
software that will do what I want.

What about using group numbers - assign a different group to each
imported log?
