Hi Roger, It sounds like your import/export filter is corrupt.
I've attached my file from 7.03. Shut down DX4WIN and put the attached file in your DX4W###\SAVE directory. Then re-start DX4WIN and see if it's working again. 73 - Jim AD1C On 1/28/2008 4:27 PM, Roger Marrotte wrote: > Last night after working a few contacts in the 160m contest I tried to > import the contacts from Writelog to DX4WIN as I usually do after each > contest. Paul recently reminded me that the merge is limited in scope; it only merges these parts of the country file: Exception Calls IOTAs QSL Managers QSL addresses During the merge, DX4WIN will prompt you merging each of these parts. Thus, if new entities are added to the country file, or prefix mappings change, these changes will NOT be merged into your existing country file. Please take this into account when making the decision whether to merge or copy the new country file. I'll update the installation instructions with this information. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C/?, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.us From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jan 29 12:33:35 2008 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Jim Reisert AD1C) Date: Tue Jan 29 12:36:44 2008 Subject: [Dx4win] Vista Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi Folks, Recently, a couple of people running DX4WIN on Windows Vista reported problems updating data files, in particular DX4WIN.CTY and DX4WIN.IEP. First, I will point out that when I was running Vista (I switched back to XP recently), I had installed DX4WIN 7.03 in E:\dx4w703\... (E:\ being the partition in my system that has all my Ham Radio stuff) and didn't run into the problem. I believe the problem comes into play when DX4WIN is installed in the default location - C:\Program Files\dx4w###... Windows Vista seems to have a virtual file store for data files installed in C:\Program Files so that Vista will allow read/write access to those files: C:\VirtualStore\Program Files I don't know much about it, but here's a little bit of info: http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=232239 (or do a google search for "Vista VirtualStore") So updating files in the C:\Program Files\dx4w###\save directory won't always work. You may have to update the files in this location instead: c:\users\<username>\AppData\VirtualStore\Program Files\dx4w###\save I hope this explains why some users using Vista may be having problems updating the files. I'll update the country file installation instructions soon. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C/?, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.us From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jan 29 19:58:09 2008 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (=?iso-8859-1?Q?Isidro_Acosta_Hern=E1ndez?=) Date: Tue Jan 29 20:06:46 2008 Subject: [Dx4win] Merging DX4WIN country file data References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi Jim and the fellows... > Paul recently reminded me that the merge is limited in scope; it only > merges these parts of the country file: > > Exception Calls > IOTAs > QSL Managers > QSL addresses > > During the merge, DX4WIN will prompt you merging each of these parts. > > Thus, if new entities are added to the country file, or prefix mappings > change, these changes will NOT be merged into your existing country file. > > Please take this into account when making the decision whether to merge > or > copy the new country file. May be by adding two more questions when merging... "Merge countries?"... "Merge mapping prefixes/dates?". Consequently, one must not merge, but copy the new cty file. But that way the customized QSL-managers, manager-addresses and exception calls will be lost. I will continue updating my database by hand. Jim, please keep including all the updating data in the txt file accompanying the cty. (MNI TNX!)
