For those who need to start DX4WIN with administrative privileges every time, since they are using the parallel port under Vista, there is a permanent fix:
Locate the DX4WIN.EXE program file in the root of the DX4W7xx directory and right click on it. Click on Properties and the Compatibility tab. Under Privilege Level check the "Run this program as an administrator" box and click on OK.
