Mike, I had the same problem. Here's how I fixed it:
-- Tried opening Help from within DX4Win and got the same error message as Jim. -- Closed DX4Win, and used My Computer to navigate to the /DX4WIN directory, locate the help file "Dx4Win.chm", and double-click on it. From there, the Help file opened properly. Closed the Help file and My Computer. -- Relaunched Dx4Win, clicked the Help tab, and it is now working properly.
