I got this working with some help from a number of folks here on the reflector. Works slick now and there is no smearing using the laser printer mentioned below and W4MPY basic card stock. I was feeding the printer incorrectly and apparently not allowing the ink to fuse properly. A big thanks to everyone who sent me ideas and their Label Editor settings via screen shots.
