Mine used to freeze up when I entered W5ADC (many, many QSO's).
Got around it by entering W5DC and then back-spacing to enter the "A".
Turns out that it wanted to see W5A, a special event callsign in the look-up
database. Either Paul or Jim fixed it.
Perhaps your's is a similar situation??
