Hi Oms and others who have problems with hardware,
First of all 100 % of every connection
Between DX4WIN and hardware (radio´s - keyers - bandecoders - rotators -
steppIR etc)
have been tested out by me and reported to Paul if all was ok or not.
Tests are done on 5 different Pc´s/Laptops with XP-home & professional,
Vista home & Ultimate and Windows 7 beta and prerelease
Nomatter what I try on all systems with homebrew interfaces, USB to serials,
Lpt interfaces and decoders, I can´t reproduce what Oms has,
and why is even a bigger question because I know that Paul
didn´t touch anything related to the cw-code part.
What I know is the following....
I tried many different brands of USB to SERIAL converters and ended
up with only one brand that does it all (ptt-cat-FSK-CW), all others
had problems with 1 or 2 of the previous list.
Sometimes updating the driver(s) could result in a better performance
The programs is much bigger because of all new possibilities etc and
Maybe this version requires more cpu-usage from the computer then version
V7.
On my running station (QUADCORE) with vista ultimate I watch the CPU usage
all the time (sidebar gadget). DX4WIN801 running with
radio-cw-mmtty-rotator-banddecoder-SteppIR-packetserver
on 4 screens only takes between 1% and 2% CPU usage, When keying in CW or
FSK it moves up to 3 a 4%.
Maybe it would be a good start to look what your CPU is consuming.
What also got my attention is ......
> I never had any problem in sending CW directly from the computer
> using no interface in the previous version.
This is not the way it should be it the first place,
Its like driving without brakes.
That it works with other programs can be true because it depends
How or in what language the program is written.
It can be that you drain to much current from the serial port
And that your CPU could handle that before in a lesser consuming process
And now its just a little to much and freeze for 1 ms or even less
resulting in the missing space between the first 2 letters.
Is it a BUG I honestly don´t think so.
Suggestion
1.Put at least a simple interface between your computer and hardware
2.Put a blank (space) before the first character in your CW function keys
