DX4Win generates the CW using the "PC Speaker" in the computer enclosure. This is NOT connected to the sound card... it is a simple programmable beeper dating back to the earliest PCs and is used, for example, to issue POST BIOS warnings.
If you are not hearing the CW your PC speaker may not be connected... or perhaps your PC doesn't even have one. I have suggested to Paul (a long time ago) that he consider supporting CW through the sound card. I imagine it's somewhere on his todo list... Jim Reisert AD1C wrote: > Not sure how this works, Hugh.
