I have resolved my problem with trying to get DX4WIN to communicate with my
new Yaesu

FT-5000.

It was the serial cable I made up that I assumed pins 2 and 3 should have a
flop from end to end. I should not have been a nul modem type cable!

When I redid the cable to have pin 2 go to pin 2 and the same with pin 3 it
fired right up and worked fine.

I also had a number of fine hams send me the Yaesu FT-9000 rig file which I
am using.

Thanks to all that responded with help.
