Thanks for the suggestions. I can probably open a group with the contest name and import the contest QSOs into the group. But here's the solution that seems to work from Irek, VE4COZ.
I opened the ADIF file in NotePad (or WordPad) and from the edit menu, find all CONTEST_ID and replace with NOTES. Then import into DX4Win using the standard ADIF filter. That puts the CONTEST_ID information in the Notes for this QSO field.
