Both lines may be necessary. The second line allows information after the GMT time of the incoming spot, like spotter's state, grid or DXCC entity. I'm not sure which cluster software can do this, usually it's at the end of the comment field (before GMT) but I recall there are instances where it comes after. I believe the '|' characters are needed because DX4WIN uses regular expressions to parse the incoming spots.
