Randy,
I fully realize what I am about to tell you does not make sense BUT the fact is the rig file X5 you sent me seems to have mysteriously corrected the Windows 7 operating system's difficulty in maintaining the radio connection. Prior to installing your file, I lost communication with radio / DX4WIN multiple times daily - it not longer has this difficulty. Yes. Perhaps I made an unknown "Power" modification to the software, but if so, do not know if/what I changed. Bottom line - all seems to be working as desired at this time. Again - THANK YOU for your kind assistance. - Tony, N3ME - 118 Ashwood Street Bethany Beach, DE 19930-9699 (302) 539-5638 Grid: FM28lm <http://www.n3me.net> http://www.n3me.net Elecraft K3 # 2462 From: Randy Farmer [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, June 01, 2012 00:41 AM To: Tony McClenny Subject: Re: [Elecraft_K3] K3 and DX4WIN I'm using XP for my radio computer, not Win7. The rig file should have nothing to do with COM port connectivity, however. It just formats the commands sent to the radio. If you're using a USB to Serial converter, it could be a difficulty with the driver. Also, be sure you set the K3 for 38400 baud. Most of the USB converters seem to have trouble throttling back to lower data rates. If you'd like to try it, I've attached the modified rig file. Just copy it to the "Radios" directory and select it in the Preferences. I seem to recall that the order in which frequency and mode commands are sent needed to be reversed from the older version, but I'm not sure. Hope you find the file useful. 73... Never had this experience with Win XP. Thank you. - Tony, N3ME - ______________________________________________________________ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
