Hello Dick,
Try Google 'usb serial adapter with ftdi chip' and see what pops up in your
area. There are several at a variety of prices - others may have suggestions
with which they have had success. Was not using mine (unbranded from a UK
source but supposed to be FTDI) for DX4 but it hit a snag after a windows
update for Vista messed up the driver. Had same with the much maligned
Prolific.

What is the easiest way to identify devices with FTDI chipsets, Pete?
Forgive me, I'm feeling stupid today. :(

For USB-to-Serial -- not David's question -- why would anyone buy
anything but a converter with an FTDI chipset? In 8+ years of supporting
N1MM Logger, I saw literally a hundred people with Prolific adapters who
had problems, versus ZERO with FTDI. Why mess around?

Another vote for RT Systems.
Expensive, but fewer headaches.
Some foks have had success with less expensive converters based on the
Prolific chipset, but some counterfeit chips along with a plethora of
drivers and driver updates make these iffy in my book.

I have had good results with both the MFJ and RT Systems convertors,
both
available thru HRO and AES. I also have a couple from RIGBlaster (West
Mountain Radio). They will not work with my FT-2000 to a PC or laptop.

Need a suggestion for best USB to parallel port converter.
Switching to WIN7 and want parallel port keying with DX4WIN.
Thanks, Dave, W2YC
