George,
Is there a USB to RS232 (serial DB9) dongle out there that will do this, model and where to buy?
There is no inexpensive USB to serial dongle that will do 45.45 baud any more. All of the commodity USB to serial UART/Bridge makers have changed to match the higher data rates of USB 2.0 and in doing so have dropped (due to the fixed maximum to minimum range) data rates less than 110 or 300 bps. There is one maker to US to serial products that still supports the lower data rates - Digi International in their "Edgeport" line of devices intended for commercial terminal use. I the single port versions listed at Office Depot and Amazon.com in the $70 range. One can occasionally find 1, 2, 4 or 8 port versions of the Edgeport device used on eBay for attractive prices but it takes some watching. Other than the Edgeport USB to serial device, any USB to serial adapter can be used if you install the "EXTFSK" driver for MMTTY but due to the software timing with EXTFSK you will see a +/-10% jitter in bit timing. 73, ... I want to run true FSK RTTY with MMTTY and DX4WIN on my laptop computer but I can't get the MMTTY program to wiggle the FSK frequency with my USB to RS232 FTDI-A36 cable. It will key my Icom 756 Pro2 but no FSK wiggle. Is there a USB to RS232 (serial DB9) dongle out there that will do this, model and where to buy? I'd like to do the true FSK vs. AFSK if possible with my laptop which of course, does not have a serial DB9 port. Thanks.
