I have been using DX4WIN version 6.03 with Windows XP and Vista for some years without any problems. Now I have Windows 8.1 and I have tried to load the program from the disc and get the message "port driver not found". In the FAQ section of the help files it says to refer to the Appendix files for the correct port driver for some of the earlier Windows OS, but of course nothing about the Windows 8.1.
Appendix file B shows script for the older port drivers, and says that the correct driver will be installed during installation, which does not appear to be happening. There is also information on installing port drivers if you copy the program without using the installation disc, and those instructions I do not understand since I am a computer numbskull. Can someone tell me how to fix the problem?
