I received my new FTDX-5000 mid-week and set it up Saturday morning
(local time) of the ARRL 10 meter contest, then proceeded to make 400
QSOs on and off during the weekend (both CW and phone). From my
limited experience, I'd say I made a great choice. This was mostly
with WriteLog, but I did make a few QSOs using DX4WIN. Radio control
is more seamless than I imagined, absolutely quiet logging QSOs,
operating split, etc. I'm using an original microKEYER plus a used
DB37 cable for FT-5000 that I bought from a ham in NC. RTTY also
seems to be working, but I have not tried any of the AFSK modes yet
(like PSK31).

It's the first radio in a long time where I actually had to READ the
manual. I have a lot to learn, but it will be fun.
