Tnx for answers. I know how I can do it. As I said I am experienced user. The problem is that I don't like to change things without documentation. The rig file for my yaesu mark v field is following for example (how is in the notepad). I would like to know what corder, cnfl, etc means before I change them. Or if I go via radios database, I would like to know what Byte order, location offset, etc are adn how these values affect my radio... I don't feel ready to change any of these values without documentation.

I have also never edited any rig files but if you have the radio and can choose a similar
radio you might be able to make the edits. Also you can figure out the ".rig"
file itself and edit in Notepad.

Even I am experienced user of dx4win, I don't know how to make a radio file. Is
there any tutorial under help or anywhere else to read? I would like to learn
to make (or to convert) these files...

Lou,
I don´t agree with that its easy done with your own rig and your computer.
I made several rigfiles (different brands) over the years and they all
work perfect here.

Some reported that a few are not working on their computer.

My 2cents comments

LOU this is one of the problems that no one can predict.
Why you may ask,
Real RS232 ports are rare these days, Ad-ON comport cards are still on
the market but expensive now.
So everyone gets USB to Serial converters for less than 10-15$.
90% of these is crap for perfect serial communications and the fact
that USB devices can´t be controlled like real rs232 ports. Some rigs
have only USB now what makes it even worse to check.

One of my HF systems has 28 serials in it.
6 real comports
10 virtual comports (Eltima drivers)
8 RS232 via TCPIP ports
4 USB to serial with authentic FTDI drivers

To get this working like it should it took many retries before I
figured out in what order to Install.
All looked ok after the first time also, but it didn´t work like it
should.

How many do remove not used drivers anymore ?

Paul,

I don't think anyone expects you to have every rig that is out
there!....however if you had a rapport with the user group, I am sure
people would volunteer to assist. DXLabs, N1MM+ , Logger32 and others
don't seem to have any problem working with their user group to
develop new rig files and features.

If DX4WIN would attempt stay current with the requests of the user
group (rig files and features), you would have a steady revenue stream
but to allow DX4WIN to stagnate does little but encourage users to move on.

As for the rig development "tools" which are part of DX4WIN, they are
probably somewhere above EXPERT user knowledge.

If it weren't for AD1C's support, DX4WIN would be as useful as DOS 3.1!

IMHO

Hi John,

The tools to develop a new rig file are all part of DX4WIN; I have no
additional tools to do that.

Over the years, a number of users have created or helped develop new
rig files. The important difference is having access to the radio itself.

I certainly agree with you Bob. I put rig control right up there

to speed with why there are complaints with DX4WIN. I wasn't aware
that Paul is not updating for new rigs. I'm still using a Ten Tec Omni 6!

I too love DX4WIN......but if you do not have a RIG file that talks
to
your radio
what do you do. I assure you NO RIG file and the enjoyment of
working DX and logging in real time is a real turn off.
So go out and buy a NON supported new rig and see how much you then
enjoy your logging program.
One of the huge incentives to buy was RIG control.
Think about not being able to use your rig with DX4WIN then think
about how you would feel.

I bought a RIG control program from N4PY that allows it to
communicate with dx4win and fldigi. The N4PY program is amazing.
Try the
demo.
Beautiful radio interface.
And I paid for it.

And again all I am saying is please give us a current statement of
intentions.
I bought the program back in 2.0 have had other rigs and RIG files
were added and supported. Really a comment from Paul is not too
much to ask. IMHO.

And don't give me the "well just move on crap". Paul should be the
one to tell me this at least. No one else.

Just to add my two cents, I love this program. It does everything

because I don't need the excitement of learning new software to
keep my interest in amateur radio. I've been down the road of
asking how this work or how that works, how do I do this or how do
I do that. For me that is just frustrating. I don't criticize
those that want new digital modes or just want to play with
something new but for my money as long as it loads with the new
OSs
from Microsoft I'm a happy customer. Just saying...

HI All,
Maybe, if Paul is not in position to update the program, we on
this list could buy access to the source code and arrange to move
it forward as a not for profit operation. The details could be
tricky to work out but it seems feasible if Paul is interested,
and if we can make it good enough to again attract new users who
would pay to join this project. I have something like N1MM but
with a
paid programer(s) involved.
Thanks,
