Is there a long queue for license keys?

Subject: [Dx4win] Upgrade tips for 9.01 (quick start guide)

Here's a quick upgrade cheat sheet for 9.01. There are two important parts:
* Migrating your configuration (preferences) from the OLD to the NEW version
* Copying (not moving) your log file. The file format will be
changed when it is read into DX4WIN 9.01. If you change the old file
and write it back, then your old version of DX4WIN will not be able to
read it. *** READ THIS SENTENCE A COUPLE OF TIMES SO YOU
UNDERSTAND!!! ***
Here are the steps:
1. Using your OLD version, go to File | Preferences. Then File |
Write INI File. The default name is DX4WIN.INI *** remember where
this file is! ***
2. Install 9.01 and start it. It should come up with the default
configuration and a SAMPLE log.
3. Follow the instructions you received with your license key.
DX4WIN cannot be running when you are installing the license key.
4. Using the NEW version, go to File | Preferences. Then File | Load
Configuration File. Navigate to the file you wrote in step #1 above,
it's in your old DX4WIN SAVE directory. Double-click on the file
name, it should be DX4WIN (or whatever you named it) and say
"Configuration File" to the right.
5. Next, copy (don't move) your log file (<callsign>.DXL) from your
old SAVE directory to your new SAVE directory. Right-click on the
file in the old location and choose COPY (not CUT). Then navigate to
the new SAVE directory, right-click and choose PASTE.
*** The next step is VERY IMPORTANT ***
6. Using the NEW version, go to File | Open Log File. Click on the
down-arrow arrow next to "Look in...". If the path is not the full
path to your DX4W901 SAVE directory, you must navigate there first.
When you see the <callsign>.DXL file, double-click on it to open it.
DO NOT OPEN THE LOG FILE IN THE OLD LOCATION!!!
That's pretty much all you have to do.
Please post questions to the REFLECTOR, do not send me personal
E-mail. My mailbox is already too full with messages that I don't
have time to answer.

Hi,
When you order the update using an AOL email address, the chances are high
I never get to see that order. GMAIL has issues with AOL when they are sent
from the order form. If you use AOL, contact me direct.
Also, the installer is self contained; you do not need to have an older
version of DX4WIN installed.

Hi Folks,
I got away from DX4Win. Some of it was inactivity, some of it was lack of
support. Aso soon as I saw Paul's posting, I signed right up!!
So the big thing is all of the errors on the import:
75 Simple Errors
123 Zone Exceptions
20 Country Exceptions
4264 errors were found (one that bothers me the most).
Any ideas??

Here's a quick upgrade cheat sheet for 9.01.
Here's my initial feedback. Using Win10, fyi.
Unfortunately, it didn't go as easy for me as with previous version
jumps. First of all, I installed the program in the
c:\hamradio\dx4win901. The program definitely did not like that at all,
despite having had all the previous versions in the same hamradio
folder. Would not save the window positions, crashed upon exiting, etc.
Also kept coming up with "Master file:
c:\hamradio\dx4w901\SAVE\mstrcals.dat not found, no calls loaded".
Uninstalled from the folder, restarted Windows, installed in c:\dx4w901.
Now was able to save window positions, except it still wants to load
mstrcals.dat and can't find it, and it also sporadically crashes upon
exiting the program. Also had to reformat Report:logbook window columns,
but that's a minor annoyance.
Furthemore, I am using screen fonts\scale as follows: Arial 9, Fixed
Size 9, Fixed Size 9, scale factor 80, no skin selected. All windows
seem fine except:
- sunrise and sunset times are cut off in the SunRise/Set window
- CW keyboard buttons and fonts are smaller than all the other window fonts
Now, what the hell is mstrcals.dat, where can I find it (not on AD1C
site, apparently) and how come no one else reported this same thing?
Also, I still have the program crashing problem. Sometimes it crashes
with options to abort/continue/restart, sometimes it just hangs with
"not responding" forever and it has to be killed.
Any ideas?

Zoran WA7AA
