Doyle - File ends in ".dx4w9", correct? Make sure it is in your DX4W90x folder (x being another number, probably DX4W901 but maybe the later updates originally installed create another name matching the version) and not being saved in an older version folder by mistake.
All - Speaking of that, makes me wonder, would there be much of a problem renaming the folder to end in the 9 (i.e., DX4W9). Would that affect more than just the log not being found the first time (which might still be found since launching out of that folder). Thinking out loud before trying...
