You can select under file>preferences>packet2 your favourite cluster
node. There is also a check box there for autoconnect. I think also that
if you select once your favourite cluster node in packet window, this
goes to the top. So it is not necessary to edit the nodes file.

the cluster file on word pad and add the cluster I used on 8.5 and add to the
new one. I save and look for but is not there. The cluster works on 8.5 it
fine. Ideas
