Yes to a specific comm Port....the one that matches the comm Port you are using to connect from your PC/ laptop to your radio. Yes to a specific data rate/ speed...the one you have set in the ftdx 5000 menu ( I use 38400, which is supported in my ftdx 3000 menu and I'm sure is also on your 5000.... under the heading of cat rate). You also have to match either DTR or CTS....I think it's DTR bit I'll have to check. Probably should be set to high most likely.
