I'm using DX4WIN with no issues with my FTDX 101D. I have the radio file listed on the Reflector here http://dx4win.ad1c.us/radios/index.html#Yaesu by G4IRN. Of course, you have to have the Configuration in *Preferences* in the *Radio* tab set to match the radio settings. Whatever you have in the radio menu for Rate (I'm using 38400), RTS (I have mine set HI or ON), etc, etc....all the settings have to match. And of course, you have to call out the correct Comm port you have attached to the radio. If you used a USB cable, you have to follow the procedure that Yaesu uses to install the drivers to use USB (copied below). And you have to use the active port that works, not the one you would use for just doing firmware updates (there are two virtual ports made once you load the driver software, only ONE of the ports works for radio control). And you have to follow their instructions EXACTLY....as to the sequence of when to attach the cable....when to load the driver...etc.
Here is that info (Copied/edited from another post on the Reflector by VE3RRH): Assuming you have NOT tried to load the driver before....and with the RADIO NOT CONNECTED go to Yaesu.com and download the driver program for the radio you have (ie FTDX 101MP) Install the drivers for the system you have ie 32 or 64 bit Once the drivers are installed plug the radio into the computer (using your USB connector), and go to control panel and you should now display two virtual comports that were added by the driver from Yaesu. (A good idea now might be to reboot the computer, you can leave the radio connected.) One of the ports is mostly for things like upgrading firmware, the other one....the one you want to use for this purpose, will allow you to fully communicate (via CAT commands) to the radio via DX4WIN. Make sure THAT port is the one you config in DX4WIN. Again, using the latest file on the forum (the G4IRN file listed above) and matching the configuration in the PREFERENCES >RADIO part of DX4WIN with the settings in your radio menu (form Rate, RTS, Polling, etc.), you should be up and running.
