I have not tested this but I believe that dx4win changes the mode to
what you have in file>preferences>QSO>defaults for new QSO. Normally
you have mode=cw. Make it ssb and dx4win will import the phone qsos to
ssb Be careful. it will changes whatever mode can not recognise to ssb).
So better approach is what Guy suggests.

Juha,
You can do the following before import the LoTW.adi,
With a good texteditor do a search for <MODE:5>PHONE in that file and
replace it with <MODE:3>SSB

Subject: [Dx4win] How to handle "PHONE" mode LOTW confirmations?
Hi,
I am using DX4WIN to create a meaningful QSO database for OH5Z contest
station for Clublog. Many of the old logs are gone therefore I need to
download some of the QSO data from LOTW. Problem arises with the SSB QSO's
uploaded to LOTW as "PHONE" back in 2007-2008. LOTW recognizes the PHONE
mode QSO's and gives credit on them but problem is that DX4WIN doesn't have
PHONE mode in it. When imported from LOTW the "PHONE" QSO's are set to be
CW. I can easily recognize and change the mode to SSB but the problem is
that LOTW confirmation import doesn't recognize them anymore and flags them
as "QSOs not found". How should I handle this?
BR,
Juha OH6XX
