Hello again to all, I now have the DX4WIN program back to normal. It took quite some doing to accomplish that. First, I had to undo the computer restore action that I had taken with the computer. After the computer restore process had completed, the computer became unusable. Fortunately, I was able to use a program supplied on the computer to undo the restore action. At first, the computer would not even recognize my Windows PIN. So, I tried using my Microsoft password and that worked. That allowed me to undo the restore action.
I then went to the DX4WIN program and found that the "W4A" QSOs were in both the "W4A" logbook and the "N9EN" logbook. My newer H-P laptop had DX4WIN installed on it, but the latest QSOs in the logbook were from the year 2022. I found an old N9EN logbook file on the computer in which the latest QSO was dated 15 November 2024. I took this file and renamed it "N9EN_A_LOG" and copied it to the "save" folder in DX4WIN. I had renamed this file to differentiate it from the N9EN logbook file that was already in the DX4WIN program. I then opened up the DX4WIN program and opened up the "N9EN_A_LOG" file and all of the N9EN QSOs up to 15 November 2022 were displayed. I then manually entered in the 100 or so QSOs that were in my paper log into the DX4WIN program and then used the "save" and "backup" selections. I closed the program and re-opened it, finding all of the N9EN QSOs in the proper logbook. I then deleted the corrupted N9EN logbook files and copied the N9EN & W4A logbook files to a folder in my Documents. Now I have a working DX4WIN program again. As I said in my earlier post, I have never had so much trouble with any program as I have had with DX4WIN. The program DOES NOT LIKE power outages and it DOES NOT LIKE Microsoft updates. I had bought a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to take care of the power outage problem, but so far, I have not yet been successful in getting the Microsoft updates blocked. If anyone has a sure method of blocking the Microsoft updates, I would very much like to receive information on that. Thank you. 73 de Brad, N9EN / W4A ______________________________________________________________ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
