Ei suinkaan... kyllä nämä on vakavia yrityksiä mullistaa vastaanottimien rakennetta. Tämä on yksi uusista SDR (software defined radio) toteutuksista, missä vastaanotin toteutetaan täysin ohjelmallisesti. Toinen esimerkki on Flex-Radio (www.flex-radio.com) ja heidän SDR-1000.
Näissä on paljonkin mielenkiintoisia mahdollisuuksia kuten tuo koko 150 kHz kaistan tallettaminen ja myöhemmin kuuntelu, mutta en osaa sanoa kuinka heikkojen signaalien kuunteluun ne soveltuu. Speksit kyllä väittää, että dynamiikkaa löytyy. SDR-14 on toteutettu USB-liittymällä kun taas Flex-Radio SDR-1000 siirtää kaistan äänikortin kautta. 73!
