Tervehdys,

Subject: DXing 580 WIBW, Topeka, KS USA

Jim,

Thanks for your QSL from Finland. I'll have to say this a first for QSL's that
we've received over the years.

I've attached an actual air check of the audio that you recorded while DXing.
It's amazing that you were able to receive us at all, even via skywave. As you
can see, we are directional to the southwest at night.technically, Finland is
in our signal null! I figured it's around 4500 air miles (8000 km) from Topeka
to northern Finland.

Topeka, Kansas is located in the central United States. Our transmitter runs at
5000 watts, and it was built by Broadcast Electronics. I've enclosed some pics
of the site so you can see them.

We have two standby transmitters, one is a 30-year-old Harris/Gates MW-5. The
other is a 60-year-old RCA transmitter.

Also in the pictures, is a view of our transmitter building, equipment rack and
two towers. Our tower site is located about three miles north of our studio
location (I've enclosed pictures of the studio, too).

Thanks again for contacting us!
