Laitanpa mukavan vastauksen laajempaan tietoisuuteen. Kuulimme WKBK 1290:n
tammikuussa Lapissa, ja paria aseman kotisivuilla olevaa e-mail -osoitetta
ehdin jo kokeilla turhaan. Sitten luin viime viikonloppuna nettiarvostelua
Sonyn XDR-F1HD radiosta ( http://ham-radio.com/k6sti/ira.htm ) ja tajusin, että
kirjoittajanhan täytyy olla WKBK:n inssi. Toinen osoitekokeiluni vei raporttini
perille, ja vastaus tuli nyt sujuvasti kun kohdehenkilö oli oikea. Tuo
vastauksessa mainittu wire fence on oikeasti poroaita!

JUS

Hi Jussi,

Well, thanks for the compliment about reading my review in RadioWorld. I'll
pass it along to the editors as I'm sure they'll be amused to find they have
readers who DX the magazine from as far away as Finland.

I can't write back a simple yes or no to your request in response to your long
letter. That wouldn't be nice. :-)

What is with you folks in Finland? Highly organized DX'ing clubs with cabins
far from civilization for the hobby! You could at least be doing some ice
fishing while surfing the LW radio band.

I see a wire fence behind you. Is that one of your long wire curtain antennas?

The sound bite is nice and clear. That's us! WKBK operates at 5,000 watts day
and night with a directional two tower array with main lobe pointing north. So
you probably are hearing us via a polar route. Our transmitter is a very clean
sounding PDM modulated rig. No iron in the audio path.

I live in a forest in Vermont and have sufficient land to erect long wire
antennas though I have yet to do so. My job keeps me quite busy with seven
radio stations in our group in Keene NH and many more stations that I take care
of in my spare time. I also do lighting design for community theater when not
at work. And I have an amateur radio license, call sign W1IRA.

My daughter Leah, age 22, will be graduating from college in six weeks. We
have two cats, a Maine coon who is adorable and loves corn on the cob and an
orange and white cat that came to us as a stray kitten in need of a home. The
orange cat is part Siamese and is both extremely friendly and talky. He
follows us on long walks and never strays away.

My wife, Eileen, works in the natural foods industry. As a result our home is
brimming with samples of all sorts of foods from around the world.

Regards,
