Jim, I'm using the W5XD keyer here with DXbase 2002 just fine. Perhaps you are trying to use the board with your radio as well. DXbase does not support the shared port for HF radio and CW keyer on the same serial port. We have implemented the CW keyer interface only. So, you would need to have a separate serial port dedicated to the W5XD for CW keying. Assign a different serial port for HF radio. In short, make sure you don't have any other device trying to use the same comport as the W5XD and it should work fine.
