Yeah it would Phil
Except for one small possibility.
I originally intended to do something similar.

But .....
I knew that sooner or later I would make some monumental mistake.
So...what I do is take the extra time and effort first to backup my .mdb
files to a safe place.
Then COPY the .mdb files to My Documents/Contests.
I then copy the contest log to this subdirectory.
Run my import saving to this same subdirectory.
After I'm sure all went well.
I then COPY back to the DXBase directory.

Because I do a lot of contests and so do the stations I qsl manage, I have
to do these extra steps almost every week.

But I've never lost my good, W9OL.mdb file even though I have had imports
fail for other reasons.

Seems like the 2 minutes of effort is good insurance.

Subject: [DXBase] location of MDB files

Jack,

I have my main log (database file ON4VP.MDB) in the standard dxbase
directory (.../prog files/.../dxbase2003).

I have to import most of my digital mode contacts from other software.
Every time I need to navigate trough all subdirs to find my MDB source file.

Is it possible to move this file to another directory (f.e.
G:\LOGS\ON4VP.MDB) where my other logs are.
This would make importing lot faster without having to navigate all the time
...

thanks, Phil
ON4VP
